Some public places with many mirrors (sports halls, dance halls, etc.) need to make them as safe as possible. A broken mirror, through impact, explosion or fire, can seriously injure many people. This level of safety is even required by regulation. SOLAR SCREEN® mirror protection film is specifically designed to increase the resistance of windows and mirrors, thus preventing injuries from shards of glass.

What are the advantages of a safety mirror protection film?

Reinforces the strength of the mirror

Thanks to their specially developed adhesive part, safety films provide an additional layer to glass and mirrors. In the event of an impact with an object or in the event of an explosion, they absorb the energy created by the blow and greatly reduce the shock wave. The resistance of the mirror is thus increased.

Protects against glass splinters

Once applied, the mirror protection film forms an invisible, strong, and supportive membrane. If the mirror breaks, it holds the broken glass and keeps it in place. A "star" will form with the broken glass, but the shards will not shatter, even in the event of an explosion or fire. This mirror protection adhesive prevents the scattering of sharp edges, thus preserving the safety of people and equipment.

Does not change the appearance of the mirror

This safety adhesive film is applied to the back of the mirrors. The original nature of the materials is not altered in any way.

Avoids the need for tempered glass

Safety mirror film is ideal for public areas with mirrors (sports halls, dance clubs, exhibition halls, lifts, nightclubs, etc.). It avoids the installation of tempered glass, which is also very robust, but which has the disadvantage of causing unattractive optical deformations.

SOLAR SCREEN® adhesive mirror film meets the strictest safety standards. Its fire rating means that the film will burn without creating or spreading flames. It will also prevent the film from shattering under high temperatures.

The mandatory protective adhesive in public places

In public places and in establishments receiving visitors, it is mandatory to secure mirrors. This is particularly the case in sports halls, dance halls, medical centers, swimming pools, lifts, etc.

The regulations require that mirrors are impact-resistant and safe if broken. The mirror protection film is specially designed to provide this protection and comply with the law.

How do I apply a safety mirror protection film?

The mirror protection film is applied to the back of the mirrors on the clear side. The application is very simple and fast. The film is self-adhesive and is applied using the so-called wet gluing technique:

  • moisten the glass surface thoroughly
  • apply the adhesive side, then rub the water in with a scraper
  • 24 hours later, your mirror is safe!
